Trees & Sidewalks
Public Works maintains many features of the public right-of-way, including:
- Parking Lots and Parking Meters
- Roadway Markings and Painting
- Street Lights
- Traffic Signals and Signs
Public Works installs and maintains these on city-owned streets and parking lots. Some streets such as El Camino Real, Woodside Road, and Highway 101 over-crossings run that through the city’s boundaries are owned and maintained by Caltrans, not Public Works.
To report issues on city roadways, please call the Public Works Department at (650) 780-7464 , or submit your request online here.
Spotlight: LED Street Light Conversion Project
The City is working to install energy efficient LED fixtures on major roads throughout Redwood City. LED fixtures have many advantages over traditional street lights. For example, they use far less energy and are much more reliable, requiring little maintenance for many years.
LED fixtures have already been installed on many streets in Redwood City, including a large portion of Redwood Shores, Veterans Boulevard, Jefferson Avenue, Downtown Redwood City, Woodside Road, El Camino Real, and the Friendly Acres neighborhood.
The next phase of conversions will target the following streets: Whipple Avenue, Hopkins Avenue, Brewster Avenue, Roosevelt Avenue (west of El Camino Real), and Alameda de las Pulgas (between Whipple Avenue and Woodside Road). Additional replacements will continue throughout the year as resources allow.
For any questions regarding this project, please contact Mike Gibbons, Public Works Superintendent at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (650) 780-7493.
